Announcements
Pres. Tom: District's Mid-Year dinner is coming up on Feb 28th for presidents and vice-presidents (in our case, that would be President-elect Russ).  (John: club will cover the modest cost.) ... Two more hockey games are left for us.  Remember we get a percentage of the sales plus tips ... Home Show weekend setup will be done on the 5th, so we'll need a couple of people for that date.  The last shift on Sunday should plan on loading out without pulling up to the Whittemore.

Will: The Independence Day celebration letters to sponsors will be ready to go out this week.  We expect the bill from UNH to be $1,700 again this year.  The fireworks supplier has told us that its charge will be the same this year and the down payment will be due in May.  We expect that the total cost will still be about $27,000.  The date is July 3rd.

David: Marina's Miles board meeting was recently held.  The board decided to offer Rotary the water station plus whatever we handled at the high school last year.  The race is scheduled for the morning of April 6th (a busy weekend as it happens.)

Andy.  The Freedom Cafe and the Center for Social Innovation and Enterprise are sponsoring a presentation and panel discussion on Forced Labor and Global Supply Chains on the afternoon of February 19th in the MUB's Granite State Room.  While there is no charge, the sponsors have asked that participants register at theFreedomCafe.org ... Our Rotaract Club is working hard to raise money for their Puerto Rico relief trip.  Club voted to send them $620.

Mark: As the incoming International Committee chair, he's looking around for ideas for our first project as the club restarts its once robust international service work.  He's starting with Chelsea at Friends Forever.  Your suggestions are welcome.

Russ: Reported back on his meeting with the commander of the Coast Guard unit regarding the immediate needs of the Coasties working in Portsmouth and the shipyard.  It seems that they're getting food shipments in from Boston, and need gas cards and gifts cards for Walmart to buy reasonably-priced essentials.  The club voted to purchase $1,000 in $20 gift cards for gas and Walmart.  In the interest of time, this is an exception to the club procedure of relying on the Grants Committee to bring such requests with a recommendation to the Board for decision and announcement to members.

Is it the truth?  Is it fair to all concerned?  Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
