Announcements
Pres. Tom: With the help of sponsor David, Tom inducted Gina DeNuzzio, Manager of Federal Savings in Durham.  Welcome Gina! ... He surveyed the members for their interest in setting up a table again at the Home Show at UNH on April 8th and 9th.  There was enough to schedule it ... Reminded us of our new fundraiser working the concession at home football games starting on Sep 8th (Colgate).  We should clear at least $400 for each of the six games (Oct 6th, 13th, 20th, and Nov 3rd and 10th).

Frank R: He is responsible for breakfast and meeting program scheduling.  His plan is to schedule us alphbetically; if we have a conflict it will be up to us to swap with someone.  The schedule will be on Google Docs.  He will remind the breakfast member before the meeting and it will be up to that person to tell Frank if he/she wants Frank to arrange for bagels.

Andy: Circulated a sign-up sheet for Bingo.  He will update Google Docs ... Durham Day is on the calendar for Sep 22nd from 12:30 - 3:30 PM.  We'll set up a Rotary table again.  Sign-ups next week.

Program
Candace spoke to us about preserving and restoring photo prints.  The process of restoring prints begins with making a digital copy of the original (which is returned to the owner).  If there is an identifiable third party which is still in business, it is best to get a release from their copyright first.  The digital photo is then manipulated to "repair" tears, cracks and spots, restore the color saturation, sharpen the details, and possibly reformat it to e.g. give an individual in the photo a different background.

Many of the issues that lead to the need for restoration are avoidable.  Candace's tips for preserving photos include:
- Keep photos out of direct sunlight and fluorescent lighting.
- Display framed photos under UV (inhibiting) glass.
- Keep framed photos separated from the glass with a mat.
- Use non-PVC sheets to cover prints in an album.
- Print important images (instead of leaving them in your camera).
- Keep photos out of humid (basement) and high temperature (attic) environments.
- Handle photos by the edges.

Problem with a photo?  Bring it to Candace.
