DG Ellen and ADG Greg came by to chat with us.
DG led off with some stats on the number of club in the district (39), number of Rotarians (>1400), her years in Rotary (33), and the number of clubs in Rotary (550).
DG said her focus this year is Mental Illness. She described the work of the Rotary A Group, Mental Health Initiative. She said clubs could be members. The focus of membership is internal so that the benefit would accrue to members of the club and their cpntacts. (We linked Candace up with her.). She said the next DG will continue the connection with that RAG.
Her second area of focus this year is peace. She spent some time in Poland and described the work of the Common Man restaurant CEO in Poland for the benefit of Ukraine, especially their mental health work. District has scheduled a Peace Concert for Feb 17th to benefit Peace Centers like the one opening in Istanbul in 2025. This benefit concert will be held in the afternoon in Westbrook, ME. Cost is $25/pp.
ADG Greg told us that we were invited to an event the Dover RC is holding on Jan 31st at noon. (I’m sorry notes don’t reveal want it is they’re doing).
- What was left of meeting time was spent discussing the Community Connections event on 4/20 (Chuck led) and Summerfest on 6/22.
- A meeting on the latter event will be held on Jan 26th at 8:30 AM at the Works.
- Alexx reminded us of the club’s quarterly social for our families on Jan 24th at 5 PM at Gepetto’s in Newmarket. I think that same day we’re having a Board Meeting at the Works at 8 AM.
