Announcements/Notes
Old Business
- Listed as RYLA, but we just confirmed that $600 had been budgeted as a stipend for the faculty advisor at ORHS when we get Interact restarted this fall. Danielle was listed in the agenda as the RYLA chair. Interact should come first, so we need a club member to step forward as the Rotary Advisor to the Interact Club. Same goes for Newmarket HS.
- Backyard Bash on Aug 5th in Newmarket. Kerry went to the coordination meeting on 7/20 and Chuck stopped by our meeting to get briefed up on his way to the same meeting. We’re hoping to learn how we can participate.
- Oyster River Community Reads. Ric said that John Mince and Kathy Collins are speaking with us on Aug 3rd about what the ORCR is lining up as programs for this year’s iteration which will run from Sep 13th to mid-November. It kicks off with a trivia night at Powder Major Farm hosted we believe by NHPR. We’ll provide non-alcoholic beverages, and ORCR will bring baked goods. Half a dozen events are being planned for the period. One of them will be a talk by the author of the book, Palaces for the People. Phil thought there might be a series of connections we could make with ORCR.
- Barrington Centennial on Jul 30th. Fireworks, concert, parade.
- Dover Bingo. Ric and Steve will be our reps on 7/21
- Lilac sale. Phil has a client that will buy the last three Ms Kim lilacs.
- Linda and George Rief. George is giving away a lot of clothing. Steve volunteered to get it where it needs to go. We think VFW would be interested.
- Visioning. Our newest member, Jeannie from the Bow club has stepped forward with an interest in chairing an effort to develop a strategy for the club. She’ll be directed to contact the district chair for Visioning as part of her prep.
- Dave Hadley is transferring to one of the Portsmouth clubs inasmuch as that’s where he spends most of his time.
New Business
- We’ll buy a national flag and stand to thank FFI for providing us a meeting place twice a month this past year.
- We need to find our stuff. We think some of it is still with Brian Ferguson at Flag Hill. Some talk about incorporating a quartermaster function as part of the Sergeant-at-Arms position.
- Citizen of Year - Alexx wanted to give a quick update that the Riverworks can accommodate a dinner/awards night for us on Wednesday August 24th or Wednesday August 31st. I am meeting with the owner of Riverworks on Saturday afternoon to discuss pricing and menu options and will let you know how that goes.
If I can help with anything in the meantime don’t hesitate.
